 | lptodisc 2008-11-29 10:51:18 | Nefertiti - 1977 Original Cast:
If I recall, Penmut had a number early in the show, which turned into a triple counterpoint with Tadukhipa and Hap. It didn't make it to the album. It was something about not wanting to go to a new country. More Comments | Reply |

Well James will be on the B'way workshop but I never heard of him being in this recording, and if he is, he will be in an ensemble role since Thomas Borchert plays the role of Edmund ;) And I've seen Thomas recording the songs.
The cast list in this Recording is the one given to SoM by Hitsquad Records who's producing the recording so... More Comments | Reply |

 | Joseebus 2008-11-24 02:49:07 | エビータ - 1997 Japanese Tour Cast:
You know, it's a real shame that there is not an English equivalent of this cast album because it truly is the most perfectly orchestrated, energetic, and complete recording of them all. I believe it's the longest-running recording of the show and it includes both "The Lady's Got Potential" and "The Art of the Possible" as well as the COMPLETE "Lament" with the solo "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" horn outro before going into the "Eyes, Hair, Face, Image" part - similar to the original studio cast album (concept).
Its orchestral richness rivals that of the film and Madrid albums and the cast is astounding. I truly am awed by this recording.
Nothing will ever touch Patti's because, well, it's Patti and she cemented the role for the ages, but this one is truly worthy of being right up there with it in terms of overall consistency and greatness. That and listening to the entire show in Japanese is really something! Sometimes you'll hear a random phrase that they preserved in English presumably because the translation would have contained too many syllables. It's awesome. OH and Reiko Nomura secures her position as being one of the few non-hispanic Evas to pronounce the place names in "Buenos Aires" perfectly.
It's definitely an essential EVITA cast album for my money.

 | Global Musicals 2008-11-22 19:48:50 | 1776 - 1969 Demo:
Can anyone confirm / deny if there are duplications between the XTV LP and the Associated Recording Studio acetates? I have all of the former, but none of the latter. Does anyone have the acetates or confirmed digital copies of same? Thx! More Comments | Reply |

Wikipedia makes reference to yet another version of 1776:

 | fshepinc 2008-11-22 12:38:34 | This Is Broadway's Best - 1961 Compilation Album:
This is probably the best, most thrilling Broadway compilation ever made. For many collectors, it was the recording that started it all. You can recreate the playlist fairly easily from various CDs, but the pages of notes and rare photographs make this one to own. This is what you share with someone who says they know nothing about musicals, but are interested in learning. I'm always up for buying another copy of this LP (in its original cover)!
